You know, it occurred to me that some of you aren't used to the idea of one webmaster helping another. No, this isn't a slam or an insult, its just I've seen several posts to the effect of "its good to see webamsters helping webmasters" and similar kinds of things. THat's the name of the game. We are all in this together, so to speak, and its only normal that we should assist and help one another out. This business, while like any other in its goal to make money, can be tricky and harsh, and some help here and there does help out quite a bit.
So, its towards this end that I propose that we all unite here, and start a Webmaster Contact List, so people can have access to each other. Its a great way to make friends and buddies, and its also a WEALTH of information and advice. You should include mostly the details of yoiur profile, but it should be somewhat centralized...all in one place, to make it easier, rather than scanning through posts looking for people's profiles.
So, ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo MSG, PowWow, whatever messenger service you use name and/or number, email, and so forth...these would be good things to put on it. Let me know what you guys think. Oh, and yoiu can add me all you like. Glad to help out if I can, and I will probably ask some stuff myself from time to time.

I know what you mean. My old list from when I was doing this back in 99 had between 800-1000 people on it, with 96% or so being adult webmasters. I can't even get that list to load without crashing my system on this dinosaur I am on now. *LOL*
But I am talking an online LIST....where, on one page, I can look up Kevin's contact info, or Rogerbo's, or Wetpussy's, or Kmanrox, or whoever's. All by simply scrolling. *grins* Easier for everyone that way.

Rogerbo - Hey dude, you are exactly right. [i:6aa633f9ea]Nobody[/i:6aa633f9ea] knows everything, especially in this business. We [i:6aa633f9ea]all[/i:6aa633f9ea] are constantly learning, from old pro to newbie, learning from old pros to newbies alike. Everybody has [i:6aa633f9ea]something[/i:6aa633f9ea] to contribute.
As for the ICQ problem, if it is a personal firewall, they have hints for adjusting settings to where it will work through your firewall. If its one on a network, either adjust the settings, or kick your administrator in the ass and get them to make the adjustments. They can be a little unique. Usually you have to create an incoming and outgoing UDP port for it to work through most firewalls.

I would love to kick the admin in the ass :gun
but that's a little more difficult because of the way i'm using my working time .
So you can imagine if i would ask them to give me the access that would just generate questions which i don't like so much
I can deal with the logs and so on but why stir in a quiet see ?

Don't worry
I wouöd love to do that all from home, but the fuking Phone comp. has an old relays between me and the Glasfiber which is not made for DSL and doing all with the speed of 31200 would kill me.
